On-Call Schedules

Set up a rotating on-call calendar so the right person is always reachable.

Overview

An on-call schedule is a calendar that defines which team member is on call at any given time. Escalation policies can reference an on-call schedule so incidents are always routed to whoever is currently on duty.

Creating an On-Call Schedule

  1. In the sidebar, go to On-Call Schedules.
  2. Click Create On-Call Schedule.
  3. Give the schedule a name.
  4. Click Save.

Adding Events to the Calendar

After creating a schedule, open it to access the calendar view.

  1. Click on a time slot in the calendar to create a new event.
  2. Fill in the event form:
    • Members — Select the team members who are on call during this event.
    • Start / End — Set the date and time range.
    • Recurring — Enable recurrence to repeat the event weekly, and configure which days of the week apply and when the recurrence ends.
  3. Click Save.

Viewing On-Call Status

The on-call list shows each schedule alongside the current on-call member and upcoming shifts. This gives you a quick overview of coverage across all your schedules.

Using On-Call Schedules in Escalation Policies

When configuring an escalation policy step, you can select an on-call schedule instead of a specific person. MonitoringDog will automatically notify whoever is on call at the time the incident fires.
