Webhooks and Integrations

Understand outbound webhook events, integration notifications, delivery logs, and notification routing

Webhooks and integrations send MonitoringDog events to external systems. Use webhooks when you need an HTTP request to your own endpoint. Use integrations when you want MonitoringDog to notify a connected platform such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Zapier.

Webhooks are outbound requests

A webhook belongs to a team and sends an HTTP request when selected events occur.

Webhook typeEvent choices
CRUD WebhookCheck created, paused, resumed, or deleted
Incident WebhookNew incident, acknowledged incident, or resolved incident

Webhook delivery uses the URL and request settings configured in the webhook form.

Delivery settings shape the request

Each webhook can configure:

SettingWhat it controls
Webhook URLDestination endpoint
HTTP methodRequest method MonitoringDog uses
Request timeoutHow long MonitoringDog waits for the destination
Request bodyCustom payload template or body content
Request headersExtra headers sent with the request

The destination should respond quickly and return a successful HTTP status. Use delivery logs to inspect failures.

Logs are delivery evidence

The webhook details page shows delivery logs. Logs include sent time, request size, method, response code, response status, and detail payloads.

The log table can lag behind a recent delivery while MonitoringDog records the request result.

Integrations receive incident notifications

Integrations are connected services that MonitoringDog can notify during incident flows.

IntegrationUse when
SlackResponders work from Slack channels
Microsoft TeamsResponders work from Microsoft Teams channels
ZapierYou want Zapier to automate workflows from MonitoringDog events
WebhookYou want MonitoringDog to call your own HTTP endpoint

Severities can include Integrations so escalation steps notify connected platforms.

Zapier can block MonitoringDog notification flow

Zapier settings include Block MonitoringDog's notification flow. Use it only when Zapier handles all outgoing notifications for the team.

Blocking the notification flow can change who receives incident alerts, so review escalation policies before enabling it.
